Successful participants of the eMTC and MTC will earn the DL389 license waiver. Anyone who fails either their on-bike (skills test) or online/in-person knowledge test, is provided a 2nd attempt. The re-test fee for the on-bike (skills test) is $75. There is no fee to re-test the online (eRider) or in-person knowledge test. For those who already know how to operate a motorcycle, CMSP now offers a 1-day license waiver course or 1 Day Premier Course (1DPC). Read the Description Carefully before enrolling. The California Motorcyclist Safety Program 1-Day Premier Course allows riders who already know how to ride but are not licensed, the opportunity to achieve intermediate-level skills along with their motorcycle license. This course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction. The 1-Day Premier Course is based on the most current research in rider safety, utilizes modern training methods, and has been proven to enhance student outcomes. Although designed primarily as a safety course, the course is also challenging and fun. It is completed in one 8-hour day. We will provide one of our training motorcycles for use during the course or students may choose to ride their own motorcycles/scooters. *PLEASE NOTE: All participants must have a FULL FACE or 3/4 HELMET, MOTORCYCLE SPECIFIC JACKET, MOTORCYCLE SPECIFIC GLOVES, STURDY OVER-THE-ANKLE BOOTS, JEANS or MOTORCYCLE SPECIFIC PANTS. Participants must also be able to successfully maneuver the lollipop (see video below) before continuing with the course. If any student is unable to keep the front tire of their motorcycle or scooter inside the circle, she/he will be dismissed and encouraged to enroll in the MTC. Successful completion of both the riding and written portions of the course will earn the rider a DMV DL 389 riding test waiver. Per California regulations, you will still need to complete the DMV written test.
